Not sure if Sky would allow this, so don't really feel inclined to ask them. We have the My Sky which enables us to record and save on the unit's hard drive for later viewing. I understand that these recordings are encoded, so cannot be saved to another medium. What I would like to know is, will my Sky box work in our caravan to enable us to view recorded programmes via our TV/DVD unit whilst away on the road, or will we need to have a dish antenna? |

Yes you can play back the recorded stuff ok without the dish. The dish is for beamed stuff, not stuff store on the hard drive. |

Ta for that, since posting, a friend has suggested that I try unplugging my dish at home and see if recordings will play. So will try that. FYI, we have not connected our Sky to the internet. |

I used to copy a lot of stuff from the Sky decoder harddrive to my DVD recorder. Mostly in the days before I had MySky when I could only record one program while watching another and had a smaller harddrive. The options were to copy what had already been recorded in the Sky hd to the DVD recorder or copy at the same time as watching a program. I could burn to a dvd disc while watching. Everything had to be done in real time though. I didn't have the movie channels so possibly they were encoded. Hope this makes sense, I bumble around with technology. Let us know if the Sky recordings play ok, sounds a good plan for the caravan if so. |
