1468882 2020-05-22 00:37:00 The power unit in my back up Dell Optiplex 960 has failed. It's model L255P 01.I have not been able to source one in ChCh and was wondering if anyone has a spare or can point me to a recycler that may assist.Cheers amyes5 (2773)

Pretty much doesn't matter unless the 24pin is mini, and even then you can use an adapter like these:

1468884 2020-05-22 02:23:00 Those things are sometimes Proprietary Hardware, meaning a standard Power Supply wont fit .

looking at the model L255P 01, that's defiantly not a Standard Power Supply .

Try . nzlw . co . nz/index . php?main_page=index" target="_blank">www . nzlw . co . nz The page says laptops But they do deal with Dells as well (desktops)

1468885 2020-05-22 05:59:00 Any 900 series should fit it. I have looked at a 990 and the power supply (using my eyeometer) is 50mm (height) x 75mm (width) from the back, not sure how long it is.

It could be cheaper to replace the case and psu however.

Looks ordinary to me.

Looks ordinary to me.

The Dell Optiplex 960 comes in three different form factors all COMPLETELY different

If you go by the original description its stated It's model L255P 01

Look up the model provided That's no Ordinary Power Supply.

If this isn't the one then the wrong information has been given.

1468888 2020-05-22 11:51:00 255 Watts, it's a POS.

What I meant was that any old PSU would work, I wasn't talking about physical shape, have to make extra wiring looms and put the PSU replacement on the outside if one is desperate and the exact replacement is not available for whatever reason.

I thought the O/P was wanting to get a replacement which would work.

1468889 2020-05-22 20:54:00 First, get a good PSU, then fit it in almost any non-Dell PC and it will be the best "Dell" ever.
Just two components to swap, Power supply plus the rest. Dell do have some good monitors hidden away in their catalog though.

1468890 2020-05-22 21:26:00 Or.....buy a new case and PSU.
Swap the rest into it.

As I said so long as the ATX power slot on board is standard....else you need the adapter.

1468891 2020-05-22 23:47:00 OK, so if that is the power supply they are using, then that is definitely not the small form factor version. That looks like it's for the mini tower.
