| 1469303 | 2020-06-06 09:48:00 | Have to speak up as a Napier resident of nearly 60 years . I actually rang the council and told them that the water tastes terrible, taints the food when cooking, leaves a residue in the shower, changes our nice white sheets to a pale brown occasionally . Really terrible state of affairs . As it tasted better before they added chlorine to it so saying there was a faecal count that was to high, I suggested they add a small amount of shite so as to return it to the previous state . . Our new Mayor was going to sort it out . She was e!ected on that promise . Still waiting . ! Another anti-chlorine nutter . Sunlight kills chlorine you know . Fill a bottle, stick it in your fridge for an hour ro so . . . . end of issue . I prefer chlorine to illness . The mayor hasn't got control you know: . beehive . govt . nz/release/dedicated-watchdog-water-quality" target="_blank">www . beehive . govt . nz She looked at some filtration system, decided it was too expensive, and are now digging some new bore in Meeanee . . . . whether that helps remains to be seen, the idea being it won't have manganese in it . . . highly unlikely . And clean and safe means chlorine . I rang them ages ago too, and was told in confidence it's unlikely to ever be removed because all the other methods of sterilisation are too complex and expensive . Ditto Ch/ch . . . And so it should be too, 3rd world bullshit for far too long in NZ . Back in the day, it might have been clean enough, but not anymore . |

We couldn't drink beer because unfortunaly in charge of our area was a Filipino General who made the area dry. So water it was. Except for new years eve 2000 we snuck in mega piss from Darwin and had a good night. I think because I cant remember little as I got pissed as a maggot. Then back onto the pristine bore water. |

| 1469305 | 2020-06-08 06:33:00 | Council says: Auckland gets its water from various sources (surface catchments / dams, Waikato river and Onehunga aquifer) . Napier only uses groundwater as sole source of water . Heretaunga aquifer water quality is very good with very low turbidity (meaning cloudiness of water) . The discoloured water issues in Napier arise within the reticulation pipes (>480 km), however there is a complex connection between manganese and iron levels coming from groundwater, biofilm, chlorine and dirty water issues . Council main focus is to upgrade the water infrastructure and improve water quality, hence substantial funds have been allocated in the Long Term Plan towards that goal . Chlorine Free Review has been awarded to consultants Pattle Delamore Partners end May 2020 . The aim of this in-depth review and assessment of Napier water supply is to obtain professional, peer-reviewed report on two possible future roadmaps: 1) Status Quo Plus and 2) Chlorine Free supply . Both options will identify minimum required updates to the supply to deliver safe water They will also provide cost estimates for both options . This will be the basis for public consultation (spring 2020) to determine which of the outlined options Napier should pursue . In any case, the upgrades will take substantial funds and years time . Council has already started on a new exploratory bore has been drilled in Meeanee . If there was a simple solution to Napier dirty water incidents, we would have fixed it already . However, I believe your pragmatic decision to install sediment filtration is what I would personally do as well . WATER QUALITY LEAD Napier City Council, |

| 1469306 | 2020-06-08 22:52:00 | Dont know what the problem is. :) Nearly every town in NZ is reticulated with AC (Asbestos Cement - Fibrolite) water mains, and if you ever look at a broken pipe, and how thin it is, you can say I helped do that and filtered out the Asbestos. And, theyre paranoid about the amount of Asbestos in Old Lino which is just another issue. |
