| 1464306 | 2019-10-23 00:20:00 | I have a flat bed scanner but seldom use it now as Office Lens from MS on my android phone to scan documents works fantastically for most scan jobs. For printing we have a Brother HL-3150CDN networked colour laser would never go back to inkjet now A great little App Gary thanks for pointing it out. The only catch I can see is that you need to have a MS account to do anything with your scan as far as I can tell. |

| 1464307 | 2019-10-23 05:02:00 | We have a b/w laser scanner multi function. It's great. Dual duplex also. Photocopying? Yep definitely. Taking a photo and then printing off a printer doesn't look the same. We've had a HP LaserJet 6L printer only, then we had a Canon multi function scanner then they didn't provide x64 bit drivers. We did use a spare PC and we printed via Windows Remote Access until the toner ran out. Due to the toner cost we just got a brand new Brother mono scanner multi function dual duplex. We've never had a inkjet ever apart from a university portable bubblejet (color) which I regretted. Never needed color and they are quite a bit more expensive. Only exception is my photography photo printer but because it is just so uneconomical to print yourself. I bought the A3 photo printer second hand and I bought expired inks off Trademe (auth. Epson) and papers generally from overseas. Generally photo printing, you get awesome prints with some of the higher end printers and you can get fine art papers and full glossy / matte, some of the photo labs use larger format Epson / Canon / HP printers for enlargements ie larger than A3. They are definitely exhibition quality printers but doing it yourself from the data I have collated myself one only saves 20% compared to a lab. So if a A3 print cost $16, DIY cost $13 assuming you don't print any mistakes. Then you have the $800+ printer to consider as well. |

| 1464309 | 2019-10-24 02:24:00 | Bought the Brother MFCL2713DW. Pretty easy to set up - wireless connected to my router. Test printed - it's FAST compared to my old HP inject. Very happy with it. Thank you folks once again for your inputs. |

Most printers come with whats called a Starter cartridge, the amount of toner is different for different Brands or models of Toner. Just looked on my dealers site - it states the starter cartridge for the MFCL2713DW is approx 700 Pages Edited: same as Brothers Actual Site: 10047 My Brother Colour laser is errrrrrrrrrr maybe 4 years old now ( I really cant remember) and its only had the toners replaced once. The starters lasted over a year. |

Brand new ink cartridge (any brand), use once, leave for a few months = Empty Toner (any Brand) use once leave for a couple of years - Still exactly as it was last time used. ;) Funny how most of the large business class (Fuji Xerox, Toshiba, Ricoh etc) all use toners and not inks. Toners may be more expensive at first than cheap inks, but will outlast once opened inks any day. |
