Rinnai Boil & Brew is a permanently plumbed, wall-mounted electric water heater or TEFAL MINI 0.8L Extra compact and extremely practical kettle. or Judge Stovetop Kettle 1.9 Litre (MIte10) does not have the whistle part at all. |

It does everything a totally non-auto kettle with optional whistle could be expected to do at a brisk rate. Easy to fill, pours well, boils fast. | 1469524 | 2020-06-14 11:13:00 | Most of the immersion coil jugs/kettles are lamentably slow in a camping or power outage situation. Regardless of efficiency, electric units are not great on battery power - particularly on economy(??) primary batteries. Approximately 3,200 AA cells (160 in series for the voltage, x 20 parallel banks to handle the current) is a bit tedious to load up just to boil 4 cups of water. If you want to do 4 more cups, out with the first 3200, in go 3200 fresh cells. (1 amp for 5 minutes is not a multi-cycle business with AA primary cells.) :help: Blow the efficiency, I'll stick with my $19 camping gas stove and the $2.50 gas canister that can make several dozens of cups from a single can of gas. The gas stove has quite a few other tricks up its sleeve in the heating field, while (aside from the cardiovascular exercise benefits lugging pallets of AA cells about) the battery immersion coil jug is a bit of a one trick pony - efficient or not. In winter the heat dumped from thousands of suiciding AA cells might be an assett, but it doesn't really weigh too heavily on the efficiency calculation on summer afternoons, particularly with cycle campers. ;) |
