1469510 2020-06-13 00:04:00 Anyone have a whistling kettle.
Was thinking of getting one, but was wondering if the whistle can be made silent.
In case you are making yourself a brew in the middle of the night.

1469513 2020-06-13 03:49:00 Er...if you want it quiet, why get a whistling one?
And if you making tea at night, you're already awake anyway. Well you would think....

1469514 2020-06-13 04:15:00 I have a non whistling whistling one in my bus, the reason it does not whistle and will never whistle is the vent hole is too big. prefect (6291)

That one will do what you want. You remove the whistle to pour the hot water out just leave it off when you do not want it to whistle.

OK here's what started this thing off.
Our current electric auto jug started leaking.
So we have been boiling water in a pot on the gas hob.
Seems to boil quicker & probably costs less too.
Hence the interest in a kettle instead of replacing the jug.
The reason for the whistle, so it doesn't get put on & forgotten about.
Re use middle of night. Usually only one of us can't sleep & gets up.

We have that one, or very similar, in our campervan. If you don't want the whistle you simply leave off the cap over the pouring spout.
