2020-06-04 07:51:00 | nzic.org.nz This shows all the steps Aucklands Watercare does. It had lovely water. Ph neutral too. Down here we have brown water and sometimes, like last night, the colour of coffee.......and hard water....you get spots on glass, and particles in the kettle as it destroys the inside of the kettle. So today, as council always just say oh we'll flush your pipes...we installed a filter. Whole house was a bit more than I could afford, and also the hassle factor of installing one, anyway I don't drink the laundry or bathroom, so we settled for kitchen only. $207. A Puremix X7 in case anyone wants to know. Here's some exciting pics of our water: www.tvnz.co.nz www.nzherald.co.nz Ewww...

2020-06-04 13:25:00 | I truly miss Aucklands water . I can not stand the water where I currently am . Filtering is not enough, nor worth the filter replacements needed with how frequent it clogs up (you tell by the weak flow) . Its not just sediments, it has some kind of transparent slime/sludge left behind . I wish we go beyond hitting reasonable levels of drinking water .

2020-06-04 14:24:00 | That's so sad. I remember visiting Napier in 2014 and the water tasted great- no hint of chlorine, and very clean and refreshing. Hope they get it resolved soon.

The guy at Micos said he changed his 6 monthly at first, then it seemed to drop off. I remember visiting Napier in 2014 and the water tasted great- no hint of chlorine. That's because there was no chlorine, then they had the campylobacter outbreak. Govt made it a requirement to have clean safe water. I have no issues with chlorine, only 3rd world and the mad object to it. It's the manganese that causes the brown sludge. |

2020-06-04 22:43:00 | I have a filter under my sink just because the water has a metallic taste to it at home. I don't actually worry too much about chlorine or whatever in it but when I moved across the river in Hamilton the water tasted different on this side. Thanks for the reminder it's probably overdue for replacement. It's supposed to last a couple of years for a typical family of four but It's just me and I don't use that much water so I let it go longer. They also recommend running it for 20-30 seconds before using the water, particularly if it hasn't been used for a while.

2020-06-04 23:08:00 | Water in Auckland can be filthy, too. Not uncommon to have brownish water. On many occasions, I phoned watercare to complain about the dirty water, and they always tell me to flush off the dirty water from the garden hose outside. I can't afford to flush my money through the garden hose! Water is EXPENSIVE.

2020-06-04 23:44:00 | If the water is really bad , you could use a 2 stage filter system 1st filter is a basic sediment filter , that gets replaced more often 2nd filter is the usual carbon filter that will also filter out the finer sediments At least you have water, Ak is slowly running out . Because why would Ak ever plan for the future when these things can be put off . Waste the $ on Flashy uneeded stuff instead (cough cough Erebus memorial )

2020-06-05 00:33:00 | Poor Watercare. They do a damn good job and get **** all the time. I'd happily pay the charges if water here was like that. Never had an issue all the time we lived there. Husband was there 50 years. They have had drought same as Northland and Hawkes bay..... Auckland does plan, they had articles about upgrades not long before we left, and as usual the nimbys were protesting about them.

2020-06-05 01:28:00 | Don't Auckland take some of their water from the Waikato river? So they might have a limited amount each day but it won't run out exactly. | dugimodo (138) | |
