1468817 2020-05-15 06:33:00 Well, I was demanding so much of Affinity Photo in regards to Layers, Adjustments, masks, etc, etc, that my old desktop box really struggled. In fact it gave up a couple of times recently. So, we decided at the ripe old age of, almost 76, I would get a desktop with an Intel i7 9th Generation K – CPU - 8 cores and 8 threads. Also, 16 Gigs of DDR4 RAM. That should not hold me back! Love the box, of which there is a photo here. Must clean off those finger marks next thing. We had put it into a new position and handled it a lot in the process, as did our marvellous IT guy. So excited! 😀 Misty (368)

Ahem, I've had 16GB in my old PC for er...about 8 years.......

But it's a lovely looking PC, very nice cable management there too!! Nice to see someone taking care there....a lot don't.
Now come on, give us the rest of the hardware specs...motherboard? HDDs? GPU? PSU?

I used to love upgrading, I could drool over hardware sites all day long....going into a hardware shop, well, no doubt I was embarrassing......

1468820 2020-05-15 08:30:00 Nice. I've watched screeds of YT video's about building a PC, and it looks doable right up to sorting out all the cables! Then I switch off. allblack (6574)

1468824 2020-05-16 00:50:00 Great stuff Misty. Your 9th Gen i7 sounds great!

I have a 18 month old HP gaming laptop with an 8th Gen chip. HP 15-cx0031tx is the model. The Processor is the Intel Core i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz, 2208 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s) It is so quick at handling 4K video editing and RAW processing.

Enjoy using all that power because I remember the days of editing a 1hr. 1080p video and leaving the old tower running for 16 hours to process!

1468826 2020-05-17 02:48:00 Also, almost forgot that we transferred the graphics card from the old tower to the new. The i7 chip has strong graphics inbuilt capability anyway.

The card is 4096MB ATI Radeon 550 Series (unknown).

What "unknown" means, I don't know! :-)
