| 1464140 | 2019-09-29 22:20:00 | My Toshiba Tecra M10 worked fine on Win 7 but is really slow with Win 10. What is the best and least expensive solution? 1 Reinstall Win 7 (I don't have the installation disc), 2 Install a ssd drive 3 Increase RAM from 2GB to 4GB .... |

How old is it? the core 2 duo based tecra 10 is close to 10 years old.? might not be worth it to spend money on it. When you say slow, do you mean in general responsiveness or is it more to do with load times? I found a guide somewhere to disable visual features and uneeded services etc to optimise windows 10 when I had a low powered windows tablet with only 2GB and it did help a bit, tried googling it just now and failed but if I track it down I'll post it here. The biggest thing is don't try to multitask. Launch one program at a time and close any you aren't using. |

Especially if low on RAM . 1) increase RAM to 4Gb 2) install SSD 3) clean install of Win10 . as above, Given its age, it may not be worth it spending any money on it. You can probably find a cheap used SSD on trademe, possibly some used RAM . Also, if 10 is downloading major build updates or winupdates (eg 1903) , that can slow things down . |

| 1464144 | 2019-09-30 00:43:00 | I think even 4Gb ram isn't enough for Windows 10 now. My Kodi box with a Core-i5 CPU came with 4Gb ram and worked OK for a while with Win10 Pro (build 1809) but ever since I upgraded to build 1903 it increased swapping to the hard drive unacceptably. I added 8Gb ram ($50 TradeMe second-hand) to bring it up to 12Gb and it made a huge difference. I would say upgrading to an SSD will make quite a difference as even swapping to the SSD is MUCH faster than to a spinning disk but you really need more than 4Gb ram too. |

| 1464145 | 2019-09-30 03:51:00 | Already been suggested by 1101, But 1) increase RAM to 4Gb 2) install SSD 3) clean install of Win10 . you can pick up a New SSD around 120GB for under $40. A fresh install of Windows 10 takes approx 25GB so depending on what else is going on the drive a 120GB is plenty. |

| 1464146 | 2019-10-01 23:12:00 | Good advice - thanks. I have cleaned out all the unused programs and unneeded services etc and it is probably ok for You Tube videos through unsmart TV. Will look into the 120GB SSD. Cheers | Krad (7878) | ||
| 1464147 | 2019-10-04 03:50:00 | I have the same issue on an HP netbook (mini laptop). It came with Windows 7 and upgraded itself to Windows 10 - big mistake. Mine has 4GB RAM, has no crap on it or unnecessary start ups and its nowhere near as quick as it used to be with Win7. I really want to go back to Win7 but I can't do a factory restore from the recovery partition and like you I don't have the installation disk. I don't think an SSD drive will be a lot of help. | tommy (2826) | ||
| 1464148 | 2019-10-08 00:49:00 | The problem was solved by by reverting to an ealier version of Win 10 after cleaing away unneeded programs, as well as disc cleanup and defragging. I also uninstalled Avast Antivirus and replaced it with AVG Free which got very good reviews for 2019. I can live with the speed now and it is doing a fine job streaming Youtube music videos. |

| 1464149 | 2019-10-08 01:02:00 | Its only going to be a temp fix. Windows 10 Will upgrade to the latest again, AND AVG is a total waste of time ( Avast own AVG now) you would be better off uninstalling AVG and using the inbuilt AV in Windows ( And yo would get better performance) |
