My machine has stopped producing sound in some circumstances, but not all. Games such as Quake still play sound, but not Age of Empires. CD's play fine, but not email attachments incorporating sound. Clicking on selected Sounds in Control Panel receives an error message 'windows cannot play the ...wavfile..may be damaged or use an unauthorised compression format' It then suggests installing 'Audio compression'. How do I go about this, and will it cure the problem? |
