| 3044 | 1999-09-29 22:55:00 | About 2 weeks ago, my system suffered quite a major crash while surfing online, resulting in an error reporting a fault in two ?.vxd files. On rebooting, it went automatically in to the ScanDisk routine, taking some 3 hours to complete it. Evidently it had somehow tried to write multiple sets of data over each other...so had to re-sort it out. Ever since then my monitor occasionally switches to a yellow 'stained' effect, sometimes intermitantly, others semi-permanent. I have yet to find any sort of pattern as to when this happens. I am running Win95 vers. B with the Y2000 updates as downloaded from MS site. I suspect it is the windows installation that has been compromised, so need to reload it to correct. I tried reloading over the top of the existing installation, but without success. Can I uninstal and reload Win95 without having to reload all my other programs etc?? and if so, what should I be backing up in order to restore my current settings?? Any help welcome , thanks. |
