| 3081 | 1999-10-03 00:49:00 | Recently after a fairly extreme computer upgrade (new motherboard, the works) - I've experianced the following bug while shutting down in win98, sr2: The shutdown goes fine until just after the 'please wait while windows shuts down your computer screen' and before the 'it is now safe to turn off your computer' screen, - the harddrive turns it self off (you hear it spooling down), and then spools back up again to display the 'it is now safe' screen. This process takes about 20 secounds - and its kinda annoying if you in a rush. Our motherboard supports the turn off at win9x shutdown option, but our babyAT case doesn't - which is where I think the problem lies. Is there a way to stop the harddisk turning off at shutdown - or to stop it turning on again without disabling my power features alltogether? We have a supersocket7 motherboard, (using the award bios, 4.51pg) amdk62-450, 1.2gig segate harddisk (ST31277A), 64 meg sdram. |
