How do I restore a backed up version of the registry?
Recently I have been having a problem with a software package. In an attempt at a fix, the vendor supplied a registry patch, which I installed. Before installng the patch I made copies of system.dat and user.dat. As the patch did not fix the problem, I would like to revert to the former registry settings. How do I do this? Do I just copy the .dat file backups back onto the hard drive? Presumably a reboot is required. Any other points to bear in mind? What are system.da0 and user.da0? |
