| 3370 | 1999-11-08 23:30:00 | My Iomego Zip100 Parallel port zip drive 'disappears' every now and then.(more often than not). This has started happening since an 'upgrade' a few months ago. The drive letter and icon still appear in Windows explorer, but when 'clicked-on' returns a disk not ready response. Re-installing the driver fixes the problem for the current session, but more often than not, next time the computer is booted, it has gone again. I am running two hard drives and CD-Rom on a system using Windows 95B. I think it must be a Software problem because the drive works fine when the driver is reloaded. I am using the latest driver downloaded from Iomega's web page. Would upgrading to Win 98 fix this? I have heard that W98 handles attached hardware better than W95. Maybe or maybe not connected, other problems on the system are two memory conflicts caused by a Matrox millennium G200 AGP graphics card (Installed in the same upgrade) The conflict is with the 'Standard PCI-PCI bridge'. The Zip drive is about 3 years old, and gets a lot of use as I do my daily Back-ups on it. Maybe it IS getting worn out! |
