1236888 2011-10-11 22:26:00 OPINION: Tackling the demand side of Ultra Fast Broadband
TUANZ CEO Paul Brislen says it is vital to encourage residential take up of fast fibre services

Hi All...I read the above article in Computerworld. UFB is being installed underground in Wanganui city. I understand that the suburbs may get it via wireless. Have not yet seen any ISP comment on installation or pricing. We are on ADSL2, why would we need UFB. PJ

1236892 2011-10-11 23:02:00 20 years ago, why would you ever need anything faster than dial up? IPTV is one thing that comes to mind for a consumer.

It's going to be more beneficial for business customers than consumers in the short run.

1236894 2011-10-11 23:07:00 wireless fibre???

Yes. Just think of the cost of pressing a cable down every street & onto a house. Especially for those of us down a long communal drive. Who will pay fot that. PJ

1236897 2011-10-11 23:14:00 You could just call it 5G... Now that would be confusing. Half the population would think it was a new phone. wratterus (105)
