R.I.P.

LL said it for me too. Jobs and Wozniak liberated all personal computer users by making PCs usable for all of us - they innovated, and the others copied their ideas. My memory of leaving behind MultiMate or whatever it was called, on an IBM compatible, and moving to a Mac will always be remembered with profound gratitude.

Death will come when it will come.

1235610 2011-10-06 05:05:00 Yeah, everyone lives and everyone dies. Sadly some don't live as long as others. icow (15313)
1235611 2011-10-06 05:27:00 My sister got an Ipod Touch today. No wonder it went down in price. We were looking at them yesterday and they were around $312. Today she got one for under $200.

I may hate CrApple, but Steve Jobs seemed like a nice enough guy. R.I.P.

1235612 2011-10-06 06:02:00 Probably more to do with the fact that the new ipod touch can't be far away (seeing as the 4gs just came out). That's the way it worked last time iirc. icow (15313)

Jobs was the Bill gates equivalent. he sold it.
Wozniack invented it. That to me is way more impressive. What's with the marketing guys all the time?

And Wozniack quit because he didn't like the greed that it became. Read his blog on it...
And if you want to nit-pick furhet, Wozniack did a few things like attach screens and keyboards to the crude boxes with levers and lights they were back then.
Xerox created the rest, showed it to everyone, Apple then went and had a look, Wozniack copied it, changed it and Jobs sold it.

They copied the Xerox Alto which was made in 1973, and was the first to have a user friendly GUI: en.wikipedia.org

1235615 2011-10-06 06:30:00 I heard they got a factory tour. Xerox is dumb for showing them. icow (15313)
1235616 2011-10-06 08:11:00 Requiescat in pace has become a colloquially accepted form of farewell to the departed, no matter what their creed, no matter whether Catholic or Buddhist.

Hate him or love him, his was a major contribution to our world, his was not a nice passing, and he also leaves behind a grieving family.

RIP, Steve.
