1236766 2011-10-11 22:30:00 Yeah the rules which apply for courierpost don't apply for normal post.

I bought some transistors from eBay, was sent registered post and the postie had to obtain a signature. Apparently they don't even wait for you to answer the door either - only found a card saying I had to pick it up or it would be sent back to Singapore or whatever.

Ive had issues with my previouis postie , couldnt be bothered to walk down the drive to get a sig, my car was visable so he knew Id be there.
Also had him sometimes not bother to even put the 'card to call' in the letterbox. I once had to drive to the post depot 3x in 2 days because of all his stuff ups (multiple parcels not delivered, no card to call)
This is why some HK online retailers get a bad rep in NZ. It the postie not delivering.

minimum wage eh,

Interesting... how did you know the depot had your stuff if they didn't leave a card? Did you just ring up and ask if they were holding anything for your address?

1236770 2011-10-11 23:20:00 They should re-deliver - call them. Go to their website and you will find the delivery routes/times so you know what time the courier will come.

PostHaste are the worst - they do not knock on the door, or come at the same time - they appear to come randomly at different times of the day to make deliveries. Very annoying. Several times they have left a card to call - ring them and they say we can redeliver in 2-3 days... wtf? I paid for an overnight delivery!

Whereas courier post comes at the same time down my street each day, always knocks and if I do sleep through the knock at the door it's either on the door step or the card tells me when he/she will be back to deliver.

No re deliver, at all. And i cant find any info on postman route times on the NZ post website...

1236771 2011-10-11 23:56:00 So leave the parcel to go back to whoever sent it then. Don't even think about a refund for the original money you sent though until it gets back to them.

Or get off your tail end and go pick it up.

1236772 2011-10-12 00:15:00 I have had a lot of parcels sent to me by ComputerLounge with no problems. They use on line parcel tracking which tells when the parcel has been picked up in Auckland. Usually the next day it tells you that the parcel is on an Invercargill courier van. I know to stay home till it arrives. When the courier arrives he gets me to sign for it on his device. As soon as he leaves I can go back to parcel tracking and see my signature. Bobh (5192)
1236773 2011-10-12 01:26:00 I just use my work address, we have a very helpful storeman who signs for everything and delivers it to my desk.
I long since gave up getting stuff delivered to home, I always ended up having to drive to the couriers to pick up whatever it was.

1236775 2011-10-12 02:10:00 Yeah the rules which apply for courierpost don't apply for normal post.

In a nutshell. It's a very separate and different service to that provided (and at a much higher cost) by umpteen courier companies. Most comments in this post confuse the postal service with courier companies, whose services are much more comprehensive. The solutions offered are by and large just not available with NZ Post.

So don't give the posties a hard time.
