1236808 2011-10-11 07:45:00 Just checked on NZbroadband and it seems that finally chorus have finnished digging around and that lovely GPON fiber has been laid all around my house. Now, for 180 degrees all around I can be less than 10m from fiber.

Last time I asked telecom about getting fiber connected they said it was being tested still and was not ready for consumer use. They denied me the generous offer I made to help test it :(

Cant wait till I can get connected, hopefully orcon will work with it.3258

1236812 2011-10-11 18:09:00 Yes but it's not like you can run out to the roadside, splice it yourself, then run back home and connect it up to your switch... Chilling_Silence (9)
1236813 2011-10-11 20:12:00 Telstra put fibre down my street years ago, but the trouble is it is the main feeder line to the CBD in Napier, not for residentual use.

1236814 2011-10-12 06:46:00 Yes i can!! Telecom would probably make me pay compensation to the broadband outage and cover costs for repair :D The Error Guy (14052)
1236815 2011-10-12 07:44:00 You've never spliced a fibre cable before, have you... Chilling_Silence (9)
