| 3490 | 1999-11-29 00:44:00 | Let me tell you. Do NOT buy Dynalink modems. I've never bought one nor will I ever buy one since I had 3 replacement Dynalink 33.6 modems. Even the 3rd replacement modem was faulty, so I decided to give up and keep the stupid thing. Any 56k modems with the Lucent Chipset are excellent. This is because the manufacturers do not modify the chipset and all Lucent chipsets can be upgraded by a single firmware. I have an internal 56k pragmatic v90 modem, and after the firmware upgrade I have constantly received connect speeds of 50666 and the occasional 52000. My download speeds generally range from 4.7k/sec to 5.3k/sec from an ftp site. If you don't believe how good these modems are, check out www.56k.com. They have a forum dedicated to lucent chipset based modems. Dynalink are manufactured in NZ/Australia. They're overpriced, and they perform like cr*p. Even www.OEMComputers.co.nz agrees. |
