Thanks for your quick reply,

Without me making any changes, here are the two files you refered to:

CONFIG.SYS FILE:

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DOS=HIGH,UMB
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
REM DEVICEHIGH=C:\DRIVER\SBIDE.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:170,15 /V

AUTOEXEC.BAT FILE:

C:\PROGRA~1\MCAFEE\VIRUSS~1\SCANPM.EXE C:\
@IF ERRORLEVEL 1 PAUSE
@ECHO OFF
REM (BY-NETMOUSE-INSTALL) AMOUSE
LH MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /L:E /M:8 /V
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4
set path=C:\BITWARE\;C:\GNET95\DOS

The CD drive letter was changed to E: when I had my computer upgraded early
last year, why PB Technologies did this, I have no idea.
Before I try your suggestions, I wonder if you could have a look at above files
because I cannot understand the line in the autoexec.bat file that says: LH
MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /L:E /M:8 /V.
Looking forward to your reply,
Bob
