3634 1999-12-16 16:18:00 Win 98 refuses to make me a startup disk. It tells me to put in the Win 98 CD ROM and then says it can't find Command.com on the CD and stops. I found this out because I wanted to make a backup before installing the system resource meter described in the July 99 Press F1 column, and that's not even on the CD at all, according to the FIND dialog box. I decided to try the reskit utility on the CD instead, but all that did was trash my Autoexec.bat file, so I uninstalled it.
Am I missing something obvious here? The CD is a legitimate Win 98 disk. The computer is a near new 450Mhz Pentium III on a 440BX2 motherboard. It's had a plain vanilla all defaults Win 98 install and never caused any problems -yet. But I want that backup disk and a working copy of my registry files on floppy. You can never be too careful.
thanks,
AJ Hunter
