| 3716 | 2000-01-05 10:00:00 | My friend has a Digital Venturis 466 (486) which we have tried to put extra RAM into. It originally had 4MB RAM on the motherboard and two extra SIMMS- one was for 4MB and the other was for 8MB making a total of 16MB. We have taken out the old RAM SIMMS and replaced them with 2 X 16MB EDO RAM SIMMS but can't get the BIOS to read anything above 20MB. I have also tried 2 X 8MB SIMMS still giving a total of 20MB. The BIOS is a Phoenix BIOS version 4.04.It has a setting for Memory and Cache but this doesn't seem to give the option of automatically counting the RAM or manually setting it. I can't find any other settings that give you this option. Can anyone assist? Thanks Darryl Lennane |
