3690 1999-12-31 17:40:00 I don't know where to begin! Anybody wanna help a total computer illiterate!! A friend helped me to build my computer into quite a good machine, but he's gone now, and I don't know enough to fix it myself! It's a Compaq 486 DX2/50.... Windows 3.11 and DOS 6.22 (remember those!!) geez..... am I a sentimental fool, or what!! ANYWAYS.....
I tried to install some Y2k correction/detection software, and then started to have some minor problems. So I ran my memory optimization software, and now I've got things so screwed up, that I can't even get the thing to run! I hate to loose all the info and programs I have... but what do I do?? I can use my system diskette, but THEN what do I do!!! I can get to the c prompt, and type in DIR, and get the directory.... but again... what do I do with the info?? I wish I had never messed with the memory manager!! ANYways... I have some things I hate to loose, but if at this point I must reformat my hard drive... then OK. I want the old computer back!! I have changed almost everything in the case!! The cpu is now a Intel 66mhz, 2 hard drives, more ram memory..... etc, etc!! Please help me... if u dare!! Thanks, Scott
