I have a two-year old machine. A 233 chip, 2G HD, 32 ram, Win98. I had to have the HD replaced as it began to develop a lot of 'bad' clusters, and replaced it with a 6G HD. While with the firm , I also had an exra 32ram added. All programmes were copied on to the new HD. The new set-up will suddenly turn itself off. There is no pattern to this. It may happen while I am working in a programme, or if it is in desktop mode. On the advice of the firm who put in the replacement hardware, I've removed all unessential programmes from the start-up menu, removed items like screensavers. Sometimes it goes for hours with no problem, then may flick off within half an hour of being turned on. The local firm is rather baffled, and another computer-savvy friend has never come across this problem. Any suggestions please?
