| 1261980 | 2012-02-28 06:37:00 | Hi I'm looking for a wireless router + modem and a USB Wireless Adapter for my PC. I will have a lot of other devices running on the 2.4GHZ band including laptops, phones, my wireless headset and mouse, etc. I found this: NetGear DGND3700: www.netgear.com = $270 which runs a 2.4GHZ signal (using 802.11b/g/n) and a 5GHZ signal (using 802.11a/n) simultaneously, I thought this would be beneficial because I could use the 5GHZ wireless n for my PC to get the best connection with the least interference (for lag free gaming :clap) while still being able to connect my other wireless devices that are not capable of wireless n to the 2.4GHZ wireless g. It also has gigabit Ethernet, although I will not use this feature at the moment it is nice to have for future use (the current position of my computer/modem means I can't run cables). I also found this for my PC: Belkin Play N750 Wireless Dual-band USB Adapter: www.belkin.com = $113 which has the ability to connect a device to a wireless n 5.0GHZ network. My questions: 1. Are these two products compatible? 2. Will the above USB wireless adapter allow me to connect my PC to my wireless n 5GHZ network? 3. Are these two products any good? Do you know of any other products with the same/similar specs that would be better? 4. If I ran 2.4GHZ on wireless n could I still connect wireless g devices to that network? will this slow the 2.4GHZ wireless n network down to wireless g speeds? I also found this: NetGear DGND3300: www.netgear.com = $183 which is a lesser model of the router modem above, it does not have gigabit Ethernet (which I am willing to part with) and instead of being able to transmit 2.4GHZ wireless n and 5.0GHZ wireless n simultaneously it can only transmit 2.4GHZ wireless g and 5.0ghz wireless n simultaneously. 5. Is there any reason to get the more expensive model (3700) over this one (3300)? 6. Since I probably will be using the 2.4GHZ band mostly for wireless g enabled devices and the 5GHZ wireless n only for my PC would this modem be a better choice (its about $90 cheaper than the 3700)?
