1237631 2011-10-15 00:07:00 "Christine Rankin, a family commissioner, but speaking as a child advocate separate from her official position said the comedian may have been given credit for making people laugh, but the court's decision to allow him to walk free without even a conviction "made people cry"." - Clip

I wondered at the time this was first reported, who was the comedian? Was it in fact the learned judge in a stand up comedy routine?

1237633 2011-10-15 02:37:00 Anyone who wanted to know who he is knows his name by now anyway. A stupid ruling by the judge IMO. CliveM (6007)
1237634 2011-10-15 03:45:00 First time I have ever agreed with Rankin on anything. I am glad this judge will be judged for her inappropriate conduct and grossly mistaken understanding of sexual abuse of a child. ALL offenders against children should have a conviction entered against them if they are found guilty/plead guilty, so that this is a matter of record for the future. What this "judge" has done is reduced this offender's record by one conviction on the road to a preventive detention sentence. No-one knows if this guy has "paedophilic tendencies" - no psychologist can know, and certainly not this "judge", so a conviction is the only safe course of action until we know better. I don't know who this child sex abuser is, and personally I don't give a toss whether this tosser makes people laugh - that is a totally irrelevant consideration. Let's hope the higher court has some gumption and doesn't lie down for their tummy to be tickled by Dyhrberg. John H (8)

In a nutshell, John H. My emphasis.

1237636 2011-10-15 05:30:00 Does anybody here know who he is? Makes you look twice at all other comedians doesn't it? PJ Poppa John (284)
1237637 2011-10-15 05:33:00 CliveM ... it's not about knowing the guys name, as you suggest, pretty much everyone knows that now anyway ... it's about Justice, or the lack thereof.

John H ... regarding Rankin, it was a first for me as well ...

1237638 2011-10-15 05:38:00 I think you will find that the majority like me don't know who it is, why not enlighten us? gary67 (56)
1237639 2011-10-15 05:52:00 This person has name suppression. You have seen recent examples on what happens when a name is published in public after being granted name suppression. It is pretty safe to assume FairFax Business Media Group would not like to be in that position.

So, no naming names here thanks.
