1237111 2011-10-12 21:17:00 Trademe have gotton out of control..
they have starting banning ANYTHING that might possibly, somehow, look like a bit like a iphone, ipad
They have started removing auctions

Auction listing (not mine)
"Android 2.2 10" Tablet" : removed

How can something listed as android be mistaken for Ithing ???
Is the the start of a ban on ALL touchscreen devices ??
Perhaps they should ban Ithings, as Samsung are suing apple for breach of copywrite as well.

Trademe's blurb after removing listings
"Sorry but you can't sell MP3/MP4 players, touch phones and tablet PCs that could easily be mistaken for Apple products. Apple have copyright over the designs to the iPhone, iPad and iPod range so imitations of their products can't be sold. Also, some buyers have had bad experiences because they thought they were getting a genuine Apple product but they received a look-a-like.

New Zealand law prohibits the sale of items that breach other people's intellectual property rights, no matter what the description says. So rather than have anyone get in trouble, we’re not going to be allowing the sale of items that could be easily mistaken for Apple products.

This means that we’ve had to remove your listings mentioned above"

1237112 2011-10-12 21:19:00 Trademe need the smash, its about time for their source of wealth to show them whose boss. Metla (12)
1237113 2011-10-12 21:21:00 Yeah they're pretty damn terrible ...

Funny coz they're not blocking the iPhone from being sold when it's infringing on many other patents / copyrights / whatever.

1237114 2011-10-12 21:28:00 I thought trademe got a bit better after they were sold (or just seemed to ??)

Some trademe sellers, report listings (with dubious claims) just to get the competing listings removed .
Yet hi-volume sellers can get away with almost anything. Report them & nothing happens .
Its the $$$$$$$$$ I guess

1237115 2011-10-12 21:33:00 Yeah 1101 they mede huge changes once Fairfax took over.
Disagree about the $$$ on this issue. wouldnt surprise me that Apple rang them up and said "stop selling these!"

1237116 2011-10-12 21:38:00 Still heaps of Android tablets listed on TM I just looked. I just emailed TM and said all iPads should be removed as the infringe on Samsungs copyright. Wonder what they will say or if they will ignore it :devil gary67 (56)
1237117 2011-10-12 22:49:00 Their fees used to be pretty reasonable and I used to buy/sell things probably once a month, sometimes more. Now? No chance. Last thing I sold on there generated a huge fee that I was not expecting, which would have taken away any profit on the item from me.

I have since been using Sella.co.nz but there are a lot of adverts and idiots posting 50 separate auctions for one item which floods the home page.

I got a satnav that I would have put on trademe (if their fees were lower) but now I will probably just leave on top of my post box until it 'vanishes'. Not worth much as it's 4 years old now, but I probably could get $20 or so for it at least. Plus it would suit someone just after a cheap one that when new was $500+ See TM you just lost another sale.

* if anyone does want it (Navman S50) PM me, first one that does and can pick up (Auckland Central) it's yours. Free.

1237118 2011-10-13 00:42:00 Given the ipad/galaxy tab visual look thing was thrown out in EU high court, and that Apple have been unsuccessful in getting Samsung (or any other Android) products removed from sale in NZ, I don't see why TardMe are doing this. All they're doing is continuing their decline following their FailFax takeover. I've given up on TM, it's useless these days. inphinity (7274)
1237119 2011-10-13 00:50:00 Yeah exactly, they're just being pricks really.

Besides, there's been *no* legal issues in NZ, so there's some bastard there with nothing better to do with their time ...

1237120 2011-10-13 04:53:00 They're run by a pack of Australians so what do you expect. The Tab 10.1 was banned in Ozz so they (TM) going to ban it here..

PS. I just joined Ebay this week.. Will be interesting to see what I can get there..
