| 3935 | 2000-02-05 01:29:00 | I am trying to setup networking and modem sharing between my two home pc's the one with the modem 'server' is as follows running windows 98se redhat linux 6.1 64mb ram agp video toshiba dvd rom 4.5gb quantum 17.2 gb seagate 56k dynalink internal isa modem. cnet 930e powernic ethernet card running mode 10base 2 ie coax/bnc cable connection tjoint, terminators etc connected properly. the other pc 'client' is running win98se has 32mb sdram pci video 40x cdrom cnet 930e powernic ethernet card i cannot get a simple ping reply even from either system on the opposite computer, ive tried everything reading the net-3 howto, under linux, under windows trying multiple applications wingate, winproxy, sysgate, ishare... under microsoft networking and file sharing enabled they cannot see each other on the network yet, if i use the diagnostic utility (dos)provided i can set one ethernet card as a responder the other as a transponder and send packets back and forth. |
