| 4032 | 2000-02-17 05:01:00 | Hello Juha: Your good lady Sara Goessi suggested I contact you, with my questions about MDaemon, Wingate et al. I am trying to get my head around how to share our Internet connection around our office LAN, and feel as though I have missed some fairly basic concepts at the very beginning. I gather that this sharing can be done either by using a router, or by using a program such as MDaemon and Wingate. The notes I have read so far regarding these two all seem to say that both programs handle email distribution and connection sharing, but appear to be used together. What do these programs actually do? - hence my note earlier about basic concepts! I read the article in PC World 's Feb issue by Peter Smith, 'Moving the Office Home', where he mentions these programs - again, together. I would appreciate your comments, also if you might have a preference for going this way, or to use a router. Might this depend on the size of network? - we have seven desktop machines networked, along with three laptops. One of these desktops is our 'email' machine. Thanks for your time - I look forward to your reply. Cheers, Andrew Law |
