| 4108 | 2000-02-28 04:53:00 | I have a 486/66 with a 500Mb HD which I would like to reformat and reload Win 95 from a CD, but just need confirmation on the steps to take. 1. Make a boot disk - format a: /s /u 2. Copy fdisk.exe, format.com, sys.com and mscdex.exe onto it. 3. Make an autoexec.bat with LH MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /L:F /M:8 /V ( copied this from my autoexec.001) (Is there any other commands I should include? Do I need a sys.com and if so what should I include in it?) 4. Check that the boot disk boots the computer and can read D: 5. Run fdisk using the 1 partition option 6. Reboot and format C: /s Can I insert my Win 95 disk now and let it do the rest or do I need to copy the files from my floppy to the harddrive and reboot? |
