| 4150 | 2000-03-03 11:46:00 | Hi I've recently signed up as a member of a usergroup chat forum (which apparently uses DigiChat, a Java based scheme). At the time, I was still using Netscape Navagator 4.1, in which I had disabled Java. Viewing the help files to re-enable Java didn't shed any light - all it did was confirm that no java applet or script was allowed to access my computer without my permission. The box where it listed the vendors, distributors, and web sites that had access priveledges was empty, so I couldn't remove restrictions. I then decided to update my browser (to fix this problem, as well as improve stability and security), so installed Communicator 4.7, hoping to enable java at the installation stage. However, this has had no effect on the status of java access (I assume the previous settings were simply brought forward). My questions then, are: 1. How do I enable java? 2. What are the risks involved in accepting java/java scripting? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. |
