| 4224 | 2000-03-13 21:10:00 | A techno Riddle I have been experiencing the following problem with my PC and would welcome any suggestions as to how I can isolate the problem. The first symptom was when I lost the use of my mouse. I checked to see if it was a hardware problem by seeing if the mouse would work in dos mode with the mosue.com which it did with no problems. Which lead me to the conclusion that the problem is in windows and decided to do a clean install of Win98. I have done this on numerous occasions and with no problems. Process went fine except that every time that I boot up I get a message that says my display is not properly configured and tells me to reinstall the display drivers. I have done this 6 times now (including a second clean install) and still have the same problem Which is that the following three devices will not load USB Sound card (Creative 128) Display card s3 Virge And I get the following messages The Netkern.vdx device loaders(s) could not load the device drivers ================================================== =============== S3 Virge PCI (325) Hardware version 006 Device not present, not working properly, or does not have all devices installed ================================================== ============== This device is not working properly because file mmdevldr.vxd that load the drivers for this device is bas (Code 8) The only things that have changed in the recent past are that I have swapped my mother board and CPU to a GIGABYTE GA-6VXE+ with the VIA Apollo chip set and a Intel PIII 533 with 128 Meg of 133 SDRAM in slot 0 The system operated fine for about 10 days before this problem occurred Help is disparately needed Thanks Cameron |
