1263076 2012-03-05 01:38:00 Whats your idea of a decent video chipset?

The best I have seen in NZ is the 560m, and that performance looks to be pretty damn crappy, and expensive.

Have a look at what these guys sell http://www.powernotebooks.com/

I've been looking at a Sager with a 6990m chipset.

1263078 2012-03-05 02:36:00 ... what's the laptop going to be used for? Chilling_Silence (9)
1263079 2012-03-05 02:43:00 Surfing,
youtube,
facebook (games)
Guildwars 1 and possibly 2
Watching episodes of TV shows

If it wasn't for the "real game" being played the specs could be a lot lower
Oh and its not for me....

1263080 2012-03-05 02:59:00 Total overkill then. You can do the first few on a single-core 1.6Ghz Atom with shared video memory.

Try something like this for under half the budget: pbtech.co.nz

You might be able to make a couple of bucks then by reselling it ;)

1263081 2012-03-05 03:14:00 I forgot to put bluetooth in the requirements (its a deal breaker.......)
Prefer i7 as its replacing an i7

+1

Those expensive laptops are a total waste of time. I use the term laptop very loosely.

That would fit the bill nicely, just throw in another 4GB RAM, the stuff is cheap as chips these days.
