1262263 2012-02-29 20:31:00 I am close to my long awaited Graphics update and I am considering the GeForce GTX590.

Issue is its at least a year old now and I am wary of buying something that may be replaced soon.
Does anyone have any insight as to whats next and when for nVidia?

1262264 2012-02-29 20:58:00 There's always something bigger and better just around the corner ... What's your budget? :D
You do realize for that price you could get 2x 6970's or something to that effect?

1262265 2012-02-29 21:05:00 I wouldn't touch ATI again if it was given to me free of charge.....

Also I have been down the SLI route and I do not like it, would rather have SLI on the card as in two chips
Budget is whatever it costs, the card I am looking at is about $1300

1262266 2012-02-29 21:17:00 I think they are due out soon, but like Chill says something is always due out soon.
What do you play that needs that much graphics power? I have a GTX580 and it feels like overkill on my 27" 1080P display for everything I play, honestly barely notice an improvement from the GTX460 it replaced. Unless you are rocking very high res or multiple displays the 590 is probably unecessary, but I guess it will last longer.

Also on the other camp AMD has some new models out www.pp.co.nz for example which is about the same performance level as the 590 and www.pp.co.nz which matches a 580. Both apparently are very power efficient due to a new chip design.
I tend to buy Nvidia mostly myself, but AMD/ATI have some nice products.

1262267 2012-02-29 21:27:00 Bad experiences with ATI be a long time before I give them another chance.

I have three displays so I need it to support 3D Vision Surround that means either this, or another SLI setup.

1262268 2012-02-29 22:26:00 Sigh. I have no problems with my ATI. Didn't with the one before that either. Or the one before that.

Both have had driver issues at various times, so what, change the driver - newer, older, whatever - if there is an issue.

Agreed. Have had issues with both in the past. When it comes to spending so much money, I'm personally going to go for best bang-for-buck :D

1262270 2012-02-29 23:13:00 The ATI version of the 590 only has one HDMI port, that pretty much rules it out. DeSade (984)
1262271 2012-02-29 23:37:00 I have never liked ATI, always been fed up with buggy drivers etc, but when the time came for my last upgrade they were streets ahead with price and performance, buying Nvidia at the time would have been close to madness. Been really impressed with the Asus 6870 I decided to get, (running four screens off it) and would buy another ATI card next time too - and I used to be a huge Nvidia fanboy. wratterus (105)

Does that mean you have a card for sale?
