1262173 2012-02-29 10:58:00 Hi,
I've recently started using linux. On a netbook i have ubuntu netbook edition installed that i'm really happy with. Last night i accidently dragged an icon from the unity side panel on to the desktop. Its the icon from the software program "F Stop".
Hovering the mouse over it brings up no tool tip and right clicking does nothing either.
Clicking on it and trying to delete doesn't work.
You can view the image HERE (imageshack.us)

Any help would be greatly accepted.
If you need more info let me know and i'll get back to you. The netbook is at home and i'm at work.
Thanks in advance

1262174 2012-02-29 18:24:00 One thing to try would be using the Terminal.

Bring up a terminal and type:

cd ~/Desktop
(It's case sensitive)
Now type:

ls -la
(That's a lower-case L in both counts)
This will give you a list of all the files on your Desktop. You should then finally be able to type:

rm F{tab}
Where {tab} is you push the Tab key on your keyboard and it'll complete the filename for you. That ought to remove it :)

1262175 2012-03-01 00:12:00 Hi, thanks for the reply & help. I just restarted the netbook (to try your advice) and the icon was already gone.
Must of just been a glitch in the matrix
Cheers & thanks
