1239018 2011-10-22 18:41:00 I have refined the search to all pdf's on the B/S server. Not many, since many engines cross over to only 1 manual. Also serial numbers are listed in the search title tags. Some pages are a bit long though to download. If you do get the serial then tag it on the search query. Page 3 of results has illustrated parts manual that may help. Another way I use to retrieve online data files quickly, was importing with Google Docs, but trying to rebuild with the scripts, since I have lost my scripts. Or use a online data/manual document search engine such as Docjax ( Manuals... 1239019 2011-10-22 23:16:00 Don't know whether it's physically possible due to key-ways, but maybe you have the timing out by 180° ... as per mzee, Google a manual if you can.

Most of the Briggs engines have gears cast integral with the cam-shafts,and have keyed crank-shaft gears. There is a line on the crank-shaft gear and a Dot on the cam-shaft gear, these must line up.
The exhaust valve clearance should be about 8/1000" & inlet 6/1000". Check for loose valve seats. The flywheel has an aluminium key.

1239020 2011-10-23 04:40:00 Ok, so I got it going ok, problem was the motors fwd/reverse key isn't actually wired up... so I was running it backwards the whole time, despite thinking gee I must check to make sure I'm not running it backwards because that would be REALLY embarrasing

Feeling ultimately stupid

Still I need to replace valves anyway so getting it all apart isnt so bad.
