1238358 2011-11-07 20:18:00 There's a pretty extensive fly-over planned for the Pacific, and a quite comprehensive tour of the Tasman ;) R2x1 (4628)
1238359 2011-11-07 20:32:00 But it doesn't help me with taking a photo or two - no matter how big my telephoto lens :) :) Zippity (58)
1238360 2011-11-07 21:17:00 Anyone else remember the flyover of a (De Havilland) Gloster Meteor in 1948/9? Richard (739)
1238361 2011-11-07 21:49:00 You mean there are people THAT old reading this forum? :D :D

I remember seeing flyovers of the Vulcan bomber and the Sunderland Flying Boat :)

1238362 2011-11-07 22:39:00 Yes Zip, several of us. And I don't why you comment on the Sunderland. The Short Sunderland first flew in 1937. Short was the manufacturer, not the length of the plane as opposed to a long Sunderland. Richard (739)
1238363 2011-11-07 22:43:00 I remember the Valiant and the Victors flying over and also the Victors putting on an impressive display at Ohakea many years ago. tut (12033)
1238364 2011-11-07 22:47:00 I am aware of the history of the Short Sunderland :) There was a great programme on SkyTV about it just a couple of weeks ago.

Why did I comment? see post #4

I was born in '48, so I missed the Meteor flyover (that I can remember) :)

Richard, yes and the Vampires' too.

Zippity, and we didn't need red crash helmets back then either.

1238366 2011-11-07 23:58:00 I saw the Skyhawks flyover just before they were mothballed gary67 (56)

Gary, another stupid thing Helen did, our son was on the avionics upgrade just before the mothballing.

Have a photo around somewhere, he and his parents in the hangar @ Ohakea, he had just received another gong, and now had more than his commanding officer, he stated that day.

They then had to do the chopper repairs, bit of a downgrade, Helen on the other hand went to UNesco I think.
