4557 2000-04-26 05:25:00 I have a 486DX2-50, which upon booting gives 10 beeps (during POST). The BIOS manufacturer's website (AMI) says this means 'CMOS read/write failure'.
I have been told that the BIOS chip can be replaced as a single item (pluggable not soldered), where in Wellington NZ can I find a suitable (ie backwards-compatible) replacement, and how much would I expect it to cost? The part number of the AMIbios chip is AA4894884, and the chip is dated 1992.
