4547 2000-04-24 07:07:00 When the original CD-Rom drive on my PC General began playing up I bought a new 24x Mitsumi.I cannot recall if there was an installation disk with it but I got it running after a couple of problems. Recently I installed new memory which proved faulty and caused many crashes - Registry corrupted etc. New memory was installed but since then the drive has failed to respond no matter what I tried. I downloaded the installation software for the drive but although it recognised the drive and installed the device driver correctly ,every time I access the drive it says 'Drive inaccessable'
Thinking that this drive was possibly faulty, I re-installed the old drive with the same result. Remming out the appropiate lines in Config.Sys and Autoexec.bat in both cases and letting the system sort itself out still identifies the drive(s)etc but still gives the same error message.
