A friend has just set up a new network at his work with 16 terminals running a DOS based program. He does not seem to have a traditional Hub with networking software but has 2 DIGIBOARDS running via serial ports. At my workplace we have the same sized network but spent a fortune on network cards, hub, novell software etc. Can you explain the difference between these setups and relative advantages / disadvantages. One important point is that in the near future my friends network will need to be running a 32 bit Windows based program, will this work ok over his digiboard / serial port setup?
