| 4722 | 2000-05-13 05:41:00 | Dear PCWorld, I have an 8 month old IBM Thinkpad with a 366Mhz processor and 128Mb of RAM. I run Windows 98 and Office 2000. Launching applications has become very slow, and during launching there is continual rewriting to the hard disk. The same occurs when using Word, at times the writing to the screen ceases altogether while rewriting occurs to the hard disc. As a possible contributing factor, I have used Windoctor to correct diagnosed errors. I can only think of two possibilities: Defective RAM Corrupted Win98. What do you think. If the latter, I guess I will need to reinstall Win98. Regards, Alan L. Walker |
