| 4743 | 2000-05-15 10:49:00 | when installing win 95, i always get as far as the drums before my pc resets or freezes. 95 help seems to indicate memory could be a problem. i also have difficulty loading NT 4 (service pack 1 excluded) no problems installing dos 5 or 6.2 i think 95 install problem may have something to do with me accidently killing a hard disk eg swapping one hard disk for another while pc powered on (dumb dumb dumb i know) and accidently shorting it - pc died there and then but did come back to life 5 mins later after turning off power and on again several times before getting any sign of life. if there was a problem with the hardware surely this would show itself in the post. without the luxury of spare parts i don't know if the fault lies with my 1 x 32mb PC66 memory, ATX motherboard, or 233MHZ Intel CPU. any help appreciated thanks |
