4957 2000-06-04 23:41:00 I have a HP Pavilion 6506 computer, and just recently I went to the HP rechnical support pages and found an update for the sound card, and I went to check what version it is (It is Riptide PCI), and I found a small tab saying WaveStream, and just like I normally do with other options, I decided to see what it sounds like with different output sampling. (WaveStream makes MIDI music sound much better). There was 22kHz and 44kHz, and at the bottom had two options, Endless Stream (it is greyed out) and WaveStream. It also has a Synthesiser Enabled check box, and when you uncheck it, and then re check it, the Endless Stream is then an option, so I picked it. Now, the MIDI output is on Yamaha OPL/2 OPL/3 synthesiser and, if I pick Riptide WaveTable, I don't hear anything.

I have HP Pavilion Recovery disks but they don't have the drivers for the sound card (well, you can't see them in the dialogue box) so I don't think reinstalling is an option, and I don't have the Windows 98 SE CD.
