1264071 2012-03-10 07:48:00 So I've been setting up my new spare PC.
Had a wireless Microsoft mouse
Setup a few things, was working fine. Went off for dinner, came back and the mouse wouldn't move.... but it would left / right-click

So then I grabbed a spare mouse, a nice X7 Gaming mouse I keep for friends to borrow when they bring laptops over. Same deal. Wouldn't move.

Rebooted several times, the works.

No recent chipset driver updates, uninstalled the Intellipoint stuff too....

Any ideas ?

1264073 2012-03-10 08:43:00 Don't have any :p all USB!

All windows updates done too, but can't see a chipset update, and none of the updates had been applied since I left, I checked the History.

1264074 2012-03-10 10:16:00 I am assuming you have tried disconnecting all other USB devices. mikebartnz (21)
1264075 2012-03-10 10:24:00 Try it in safe mode, just in case theres some sort of driver conflict somewhere. wainuitech (129)
1264076 2012-03-10 10:45:00 Ive never seen chipset drivers in / on windowsupdate. Probably be better if you go to the Intel / Nvidia / AMD / whatever site. And download them. Depending on the chipset it uses Speedy Gonzales (78)
1264077 2012-03-10 19:50:00 Does the mouse have btteries? If so try changing them. Bryan (147)
1264078 2012-03-10 21:05:00 And I also like to try a different mouse.

When things get nasty :>)

1264079 2012-03-10 21:16:00 Power settings?
On batteries, my lappy is set to sleep a mouse after a while, it won't move when wiggled but a click event wakes it.
