1263885 2012-03-09 01:47:00 My Leadtek GF 8800 GTS 512mb has failed and I'm in the market for a new card. In todays cards what is this equivalent too. I was quite happy with my 8800gts so don't need anything that fancy. Running my computer on the motherboards VGA graphics at the moment.

1263886 2012-03-09 01:57:00 An 8800 GTS is (was?) a pretty good card.. I wouldn't call it "not that fancy"

What actually are you doing with the machine? Are you gaming at all?

1263888 2012-03-09 02:16:00 I've found this page quite good for comparing video cards: www.overclock.net

Also this page is good for comparing specs side-by-side: www.gpureview.com

1263889 2012-03-09 02:16:00 The current-lineup equivalent of the 8800GTS is the GTX570 (~$550). That said, it sounds like you don't really need that much out of it - what are your requirements? If the 880 GTS was handling it fine, I'd look for a GXT450, GTX550 or HD6770. Should be had for as little as ~$200 new. inphinity (7274)
1263890 2012-03-09 02:17:00 Maybe a HD6750 at around $160 - $200 ish ??

Mine failed this morning as well. Ive gone & just bought a HD6850 ,I couldnt be bothered spending too much time finding the perfect replacement.

1263891 2012-03-09 02:38:00 Yes I play a few games mainly simulation type. FSX which was a bit jerky even on medium settings, mind you even the best computers have trouble running that. Rail Works 3 Train Simulator 2012 which runs good at medium settings. Cyrsis2 ran pretty good maxed out.
Mainly play Railworks 3 though. Play the odd DVD and watch Youtube videos in HD if available. Paid around $560 for the old card 3 and a half years ago.

1263892 2012-03-09 04:15:00 What about a GTX550 or 560 1024mb DDR5 about $300. I'm an Nvidia man.

1263894 2012-03-09 06:38:00 560 Ti is where you want to be, $320 plus GST, Spank the daylights out of your old card and killer value for money. Metla (12)
