1240160 2011-10-27 06:56:00 May i ask what comments you are poking a stick at?

I never aspired to be a primary or secondary teacher, as my language - grammar and written skills where never the best, and i prefer the more hands on approach i have with the under 5 year old group of children.
Good on all the teachers who work hard and make a difference, I hope that our future generations appreciate what is happening today, so the future may be more smiling and happy faces for educators and their hard work, showing up by the children making the right decisions, creating a better world for all maybe?

Dreams are free i guess.

1240162 2011-10-27 07:20:00 I was just wondering, sometimes i get blinkers on and cant see the thing right in front of my face.

It can be quite frustrating with throw away comments when its your profession they are talking about.

I get very attached to the children at my work, and their families, and see how life affects each of them differently, and some times how life is so cruel.
Often i would like to bundle them up and bring them home.

Hopefully mine.

The thing is, The right of reply is open to you, I'm more then happy to have what I posted utterly demolished, Its all of interest to me. My point of view is just that, Just what I see, so if it can be shown up to be ignorant one sided bullshit then that's a bonus.

Its merely a conversation and it takes many voices to get the big picture, and there is always a bigger picture.

1240164 2011-10-27 07:24:00 So Ali what you're saying is its ok to have incompetent teachers and do nothing about it to protect the livelihood of the profession.

That is just bullshit mate.
If you can't cut it you SHOULD be sacked, every other profession sacks you if you can't do the job and every other profession has some kind of performance indicator, so why not yours?

There is a very thin line now adays on what you can get fired for, and a very long drawn out process........... and also the point of unfair dismissal, and unions etc that can cause a great problem to a lot of employers.
Verbal warnings, written warnings, formal complaints, mediation processors, and a beyond doubt why you should be fired? and then to be dragged to court, and cost every body time and money? some times its easier to put head in the sand and not see the problem.

1240166 2011-10-27 07:30:00 Yes beetle it is easier, but is it right?

Do you as a teacher, feel comfortable knowing there are incompetent teachers drawing the same pay as you for much less work and maybe damaging the kids education?

Same question to you too Ali, are you ok with that?
DeSade (984)
1240167 2011-10-27 07:34:00 Mate, I haven't said it's okay to have incompetent/unfit teachers teaching - I have simply acknowledged that they do exist and FYI, there is a professional body that investigates complaints and takes action if necessary.

There are performance indicators and requirements - in my opinion adding performance pay to that is not necessary and won't work.
Chemical Ali (118)
1240168 2011-10-27 07:38:00 No its not okay, some people spend their whole life getting away with it, while the hard workers just keep trudging along hoping things will change.
And really performance related pay? any one can dressed up and work hard at the time of assessment, smile and kiss up to the people required and look wonderful at that moment.
Its the people that keep this up day in day out that really make a difference.
not the 5 minute wonders.

1240169 2011-10-27 07:39:00 Sometimes the only way to effect change is to hit people in the pocket, most other industries have learnt this lesson. DeSade (984)
