| 1239897 | 2011-10-26 23:07:00 | Hi pctek ... I'm just going from memory ... but are you concerned about loosing your job (newish I think). Be aware that the pain and discomfort will only increase and if you're on a waiting list, it could be some time before your name comes up again ... get in while you can ! I don't know your employer, but they would be a nasty one if they didn't give you the time off to have it done and don't think they could actually dismiss you because of it. Any chance you could do some of the work from home ?? Mother-in-law had one replaced when she was about 78 from memory ... it made such a difference to her quality of life, however, she should have had it done much earlier ... unfortunately she died aged 81. The public health systems waits until it is too bloody late for many people to get the benefit of such operations any extended period of time. |

If I have followed the threads as well as I think then its not losing the job that is the issue, its losing the pay.\. New = no sick leave. |

Any chance you could do some of the work from home ?? Zero chance of work from home. I suspect, once I actually get leave/sick leave, I could take what I have but can't afford unpaid leave, and of course there's the after bit, need to be able to get here and walk around. And of course there's the hospital, no way could I stay in several nights, could discharge myself but I have a huge reason not to be away overnight which matters..........without going into the details on him............ But true - waiting list - that's likely to be ages so could be a good thing. And like I say, it's not like I can't move around at all as yet, my father can't walk across a room - that's what I define as necessary to have something done, although he has complications on why not too. |

| 1239900 | 2011-10-26 23:20:00 | Sorry DeSade ... hadn't read right through the thread. May not be the optimal solution, but WINZ may be able to help out with emergency benefit and housing costs ... pctek should look into it if she has no insurance. It may only have to be for 3 weeks or so ... people heal differently and have different pain tolerances ... just a thought. | SP8's (9836) | ||
| 1239901 | 2011-10-26 23:27:00 | Lag ... sorry pctek. There is always a solution to a problem. If your huge problem involves someone with an illness or medical condition, WINZ may also be able to help with an overnight carer or nurse ... you can only ask. There are other organisations who can help out as well and maybe your GP can point you in the right direction. | SP8's (9836) | ||
