5026	2000-06-10 01:10:00	Two days ago, I spent 90 minutes being shunted from one MS Support screen to another, endeavouring to get Microsoft to help me with a Microsoft problem. When I finally got through to their ? contactus ? system, I received a very pleasant response (from the US) telling me I'd hear from Microsoft with assistance in the near future. When this assistance arrived the next day from Microsoft NZ, I found that I would have to make a toll call, and could expect to be charged for the assistance. I am now writing to you at PC World to hopefully get an answer to my problem, in the knowledge that your publishing my letter might spur on Microsoft NZ to offer some uncomplicated, non-bureaucratic, helpful and free customer support. If thats wishful thinking, heres the problem anyway. I have an ongoing problem when using Word '97 (part of Off97 Pro). I have so far failed to get any satisfactory fix from newsgroups, even though I've tried many of their suggestions. I have set language for keyboard, Word, custom dictionary, etc etc to English NZ. I have deleted and/or changed normal.dot. I have reinstalled Word. I have changed, reset and re-reset options, auto format preferences, styles, etc etc etc. All to no avail. With my Word97 it would appear that ( ? ? ~ ` ^ ) has no automatic forward carriage on key press, as in addition to distorting immediately subsequent letters, the ( ? ? ~ ` ^ ) does not appear after a letter until the space bar is pressed (e.g. at the end of a word, the space bar must be pressed twice to get a single space between it and the next word). None of the other symbols (i.e. !@#$%&*()_+-={}[]:;<,>. ? /|\) are subject to this, and have auto forward carriage and do not distort immediately subsequent letters. All letters Aa and Oo are affected, however Cc, Ee, Ii, Nn, Uu and Yy are only affected with one or some of the symbols. This is what happens to letters typed immediately (no space) after a ( ? ): ? ? , ( ? ): ? ? ,(~): ? ? , ( ` ): ? ? , ( ^ ): ? ? .	Guest (0)
