| 5185 | 2000-06-20 10:39:00 | I have just done the upgrade thing to win2000 from 98/millinium. Everything running fine - or at least it was. (no more blue screen of death - yay)... I have a creative live card installed - creative recomended 'upgrading the drivers' because even though win2000 recorgnised the card - it only installed genetic drivers for it. This card was working before this updated - I got the updated drivers from the creative site. After the update - it said it would like to restart windows... (surprise) On startup it almost reaches the point where I put in my pass-word. It then re-starts the booting process all over again - it would do this forever if I let it. If I startup in safemode I find I have a conflict between my NVidia Riva TNT2 card and my creative live card... The IRQ's seting for these two cards is 11. Also in 'safe mode' I have no mouse - have you tried to go through settings using the TAB key - and everything is different... device manager has been moved... I don't mind this though - just makes it a wee bit harder. OK - the only way to get things working now is to tell the soundcard 'dont use this device' Now this is the problem - catch22 realy - In safe mode you can't change the irq no's (where you would normally change them is blanked out. Now in windows I can't change the irq number because it is disconnected. ??? help Note though - these cards were working before ??? thanx |
