| 5181 | 2000-06-20 06:26:00 | My computer crashed during Norton's Speed Disk (defragmenter). On trying to revive it I found that the HDD had been messed up with major cross linked files, missing chains, etc etc. Finally getting Win 95 going again I discovered that Norton Disk Doctor had rearrandged things (to fix the above probs) so much that I decided to reformat and reinstall everything. This was done and the 'puter ran beautifully for a day and then wouldn't boot. Once again the HDD was scrambled. Is there a simple way to tell if this is a hardware problem or a software problem? I keep NAV up to date but have suspicions about an email that included an MPG file, which I didn't scan because it crashed every time I tried to check it. Any advice welcome. |
